On a particularly flat stone overhanging a pool of molten rock, a lone drake rests, idly flicking small bits of stone. As those bits fell into the lava below, giving off small hisses at each, he frowned and twitched his long, furred tail across the stone. He was a odd dragon, a mix of two different species, which gave him at first glance the appearance of a Asian lung but as one looked more, they would notice he was shorter then a true lung. His parentage rewarded him with strong hind legs, a large build and a head not seen on any lung. His fur, and the fine scales visible in 'bald' patches, was a deep red color, accented with teal spots and brightened with a vivid red belly. He was currently lost, or so he'd tell his father if asked, yet untroubled to bother finding he path again. He liked this volcano, it provided a heat he rarely felt and often yearned for during his days of study and training. After exhausting his supply of pebbles, he looked around the volcanic area once or twice, before curling his long body in such a way as to be able to nap, yet leave no vulnerabilities exposed. Resting his head on top of his back, he gave a sigh and began to shut his eyes, closing them just enough as to appear asleep, he would take no chances in a new place.

As the drake seemed to be resting by the lava, there appeared an elf at the volcano's rim, she had purple eyes that flickered a great deal in the volcano's glow, and red hair that was cut short behind her ears, but reached below her shoulder in the front. Her bangs were cut just above her eyes to hide her forehead, and her ears were well-exposed, obviously she didn't mind if people knew she was an elf. She was carrying a blade attached to a long pole the pole was blue with red flowers painted across it, along with vines and braches that were painted a light green. He clothes were a long pink robe with a white shirt underneath and a blue cloth covering her legs, the robe was covered in white flowers of the same pattern as the one on the blade. She began practicing her arts on the volcano's rim, seeming to dance as the blade spun around her body. It was impossible for her to miss the dragon sleeping there, or it should have been, but she made to movement to acknowledge that she noticed it. Perhaps because she did not care that a large and powerful beast was there, the look in her eyes was slightly cold, but not evil.

The drake lifted his head just slightly, the motion stiff yet controlled so as to appear smooth, his orange eyes followed the elf the moment she appeared. He was merely curious of her, not yet taking care to watch her blade, at least not til it began to move with her dance. His curled a lip faintly as she had intended to swing the blade his direction, yet remaining still since she gave no indication of seeing him on the rock he was curled on. He stayed perfectly still for a long time, his eyes following her movements in a practice he learned from a young age, watching her patterns and style carefully. Finally, after feeling he could accurately gauge a potential attack, he began to uncurl himself, slowly at first before a smooth final stretch exposed his entire length. Stretching again, he stood and looking towards the elf, tiled his head, asking a voice that would sound as a mix between a hatchling and a adult. "What bring you up here to a place as hot as this."

The elf spun and danced a little longer and upon being addressed by the drake she was silent for a while, still dancing with the blade she leaned over the edge every now and then and then suddenly the blade flew at the drake, her having given no indiction she was going to toss it. She leapt after it and it embedded itself in the rock he was at. She landed on it and her clothes draped over the pole as she grabbed it, so the dragon could not see how she held it. "Hmm...you look odd for a dragon." she said, still seeming unfazed by the size difference, "As for what I am doing here, training...and you made a very good partner, tell me, could you tell I was going to throw that your way?"

If he was surprised by the blade flying towards him, he did a good job of masking it from her. It did surprise him, though not greatly, he had expected a reaction such as that as soon as he had spoken to her. He didn't move a inch when the sword stuck into the stone, merely watching her as she followed the blade and landed on it. He was a bit put out by her clothing hiding how she held the weapon, though the look her gave her conveyed unconcern. "You're rather odd for a biped, throwing a weapon at a dragon." His effort to appear older then his age would be foiled by his voice, yet he continued as if it were deeper. "Training? For what, a lone dragon to awaken from his nap?" He gives a snort, though seems to fluff a bit at being called a good partner. "I didn't see that you would throw the blade, I did expect that you would however."

"Hmm...I'm odd you say. Well I suppose many a biped would not attempt battle with a dragon, but I'm sure that if you did attack me, I could hold me own, besides the weapon was not aimed at you...just near. I was perfectly prepared for any reaction that would be natural, though I hoped it wouldn't come to a fight, would hate to hurt you over something I started." She took note of his voice and became a bit curious, "Hmm....are...you a young one? Sorry, you didn't look it. Wouldn't have thrown a weapon and startled you if so. Surprising you didn't lash out...and not training for a dragon to awaken, just training forms with my blade, anyways...thanks, I was trying to make it so you wouldn't see it, if you expected it that just means that you're wise."

He held a small forepaw up, a faint glow indicating a spell had been made ready for casting. "A healing spell, in case you had hit me." He gave as a explanation before lowering his head slightly to get a better look at her. "I guess it would be rather foolish for a biped to attack a dragon, but I guess there might be exceptions. As for attacking you, I would use a spell to immobilize you before I would attack. I'd rather there be no injuries if I can help it, I'm not here to fight." He tilted his head, then gave a shrug of his shoulders. "I'm young, but nearly an adult. I've rites to take before my father will consider me an adult. Don't worry about throwing the weapon towards me, it's one of the things I've trained for since I was young. I didn't lash out as I prefer casting to claw, mine are too small anyway to do damage, and what would we achieve from a fight? One that neither intended to start?" He studied her a bit more before asking. "So, training forms for your blade, what kind of forms? And if you don't mind my asking, what kind of biped are you and what is your name?" He raised his head again, though he did visibly relaxe a little, shifting his weight from one forepaw to the other as he looked at her.

Megan smiled, "Wise to not want to fight another without cause, you have learned well from your family. It is nice to hear you are going through your rites to adulthood as well. Not sure whether or not you could provide a spell with enough power to immobilize me at your age. My race is an elf, and my resistance to magic is a bit more than what I'd expect most bipeds resistance would be. Still you are likely strong and would provide a good match if you wished to fight." She told him with a smile, "Perhaps we could spar if you wished to test yourself, not now though, this blade is not dull, so I could actually injure you if we fought, and I'm sure neither of us would prefer that..." She imitated his spell, also causing a small glow, though hers was significantly less intense still. "Interesting to hear you prefer magic to claw though. Most dragons would not, I'm not the best at magic myself, but as an elf, I would be a bit of a joke if I could not use at least some. Hmm...you ask of my name? And form?" She kicked into the rock, pulling out her blade and flipping backwards with it, landing on the ground near the rim of the volcano, "My name is simply Megan, and my form as you can see, is blade dancing."

He nodded, considering what she told him of being a elf. "I would need to use a larger then normal amount magic to immobilize you. I prefer not to do so, since it would leave me in need of a pause, the length of which would allow my spell to wear off." He gave an amused snort. "So yes, I'm too young to be able to truely hold you still." He settled onto the rock once she leapt away, giving a grin. "I'm Beiolth, it is nice to meet you Megan. I've never met a biped before, I'd warned away from them most of my life. So you could say that part of my adult rites is go out and learn about a biped or two. As for sparring, I don't see why not, it might be fun." He nodded at her glow. "Well you could say I didn't have much choice in what I use to fight, small claws are terrible for combat training. So where your art is in blade dancing, mine is spell casting." He leans towards her, a simple grin on his muzzle. He was starting to like her now.

Megan grinned, "You probably could immobilize me if you tried, don't sell yourself short, you are a dragon. Although if you can't use your claws afterwards, that could be bad. Immobilizing someone and then beating then isn't really a fair fight anyways though." She contemplated what he said next and nodded, "That...makes sense...you know. Dragons are large and intimidating, they could easily frighten many bipeds into attacking. As for learning about elves, I could probably help you there if you wish me to aid in your rites. Still, I say we wait on the sparring. Nice to know that you're up for it though, Beiolth." She gave no indication as to if she was starting to like him or not. "Spell casting can be quite effective, but generally requires you take time from other things. I assume you know more than immobilization."

He gave a shrug. "I don't doubt I could immobilize you, just the effort required and then length of the spell would make the effort worthless to attempt. Do not think I would aim to kill if I was able to attack after casting, I would simply try to pin you, as you did not seem to want to kill me." He gave a amused shake of his head when she spoke of bipeds being scared into attacking a dragon, though when he gave it thought he had to agree. "I was always told that bipeds were a danger to dragons a and to avoid them. I do see what you mean though.. hmm." He seemed as if reconsidering things he'd been taught, though shook it away after a bit. Tipping his head toward her, he nodded slowly. " I think that would good, I am willing to learn more about bipeds in general to. And of course, as we've both said before, we don't want a injury." He nods, his eyes watching the elf, even as he grinned, careful now if watching her stance and such. He liked her, but years of training still kept him carful, his grin though genuine was to hide his observing of her. "Indeed, I know attack spells, restraining spells, heals and defensive spells. Plus a few odd ones inbetween, one or two purely made for fun."

Megan nods, "I see...yes that may be the case, maybe if you were older you could immobilize me no problem. Though that wouldn't stop me from trying if I really wanted to attack. And no, I would never kill without provocation. Although I might if you gave me a reason. You don't seem like a horribly aggressive drake though. Hmm, do you mind my asking of your odd appearance?" She laughed slightly, "As I just said.....bipeds are a danger to dragons, dragons are intimidating to them, so they will attack for either self-defense, or personal glory. Even without provocation. Don't let my judgement fool you, not all bipeds will take as kindly to your presence." Megan did not respond nearly at all to Beiolth's last comment and one look at her stance would say she was more relaxed around him. The sharp edge of the blade was pointed away from him and she was leaning on the pole in such a way that it would be difficult for her to counter a sudden attack. It would be a bit much to say this meant she trusted him, but that could easily be the truth.

Beiolth lounged on the stone now, making it near impossible to tell if he was truly relaxed or not. He considers what she say then nods, another strategy coming to mind. "Hmm, then maybe a stun would work. It wouldn't drain me at all to cast a stun and while you recovered, I could get close and pin you. But why are we continuing this discussion? Neither want to fight, so this is silly." he sat up a tiny bit. "My appearance hmm? I agree it must seem odd, but what about it?" He listened to her reasoning about bipeds, giving a heavy sigh. "Lack of understanding then. Not just bipeds, but the dragons as well, you know there are some who wouldn't hesitate to use that fear to their advantage." He shifted a bit, bringing his to curl around his hindlegs since it would interfere with his foreepaws should he need them, his posture one of relaxation. Behind it he remained ready to move, mainly away should that blade turn towards him.

Megan also opted not to continue that line of speech, although she did nod to him to show him she agreed that a stun would probably suffice to incapacitate her, "Yes...I don't want to fight you. Neither of us want to get hurt..." She then chuckled before adding, "Perhaps it seems old only because you're bigger than me...I wonder what you would look like to me if I were a dragon..." Megan frowned at his next comment and said, "Yes....fear, intimidation. Hmm... Oh but I hope you are not one of those dragons that would take advantage of it." She noticed him stay at the ready and waved her hand before laughing and commenting, "Don't you trust me? I mean you no harm."

Beiolth nodded, then considered her view of himself. "Well, considering I am different from both my mom and dad, I guess I could explain a bit." he adjusted himself a bit, angling his body so she had a better view of it. One really noticeable thing about him would be the size of his wings... they were tiny in comparison to his body. "My mother is a eastern lung, her body is built long and lean, her forepaws are small and petite, and she is covered in fur." he waves to the similarities on his own body. "My father is a western dragon, he has a shorter body, wings, and powerful limbs, plus is covered in armor-like scales." he points those similarities out. "You could say, my siblings and I were a experiment of his, he wanted to know what would come out." he shrugs then, obviously past any upset he might of had about that fact long ago. He tilts his head to her question about his readiness, chuckling a bit and practically allowing himself to 'melt' over the stone, looking to her in amusement. "Force of habit, dad drilled it into us to always be ready in case of a attack. I guess I can trust you a bit."

Megan chuckled and said, "Hmm...I see...I was not aware that a dragon could be 'odd' as all of you appear odd to me. The scales and four legs being part of that, though I suppose I probably look just as odd to you...no scales and two legs, no tail even." Megan sat down relaxed and said, "Still it's interesting to hear your parents were so different...so where are the tiny wings from? And...can you fly?" At the fact he was an experiment, Megan nodded and said, "That is not a good way to treat people...but you don't seem too disturbed by it." After this she chuckled slightly again before saying, "Oh? What makes you so sure you can trust me?" After which she threw her blade at him again, causing it to rest in the stone slightly underneath his body before bounding off of the pole and onto his back. The 'attack' would not have injured him in any way and been merely for intimidation.

He shrugged. "There are those of the two legged kind who you would consider odd, are there not? I am who I am, I did not chose the appearance I hatched with, only learned to live with it." His tone was pleasant as he spoke, demeanor calm. He shook his head a bit, little wings showing they functioned and giving a shrug. "I'm not sure why dad chose mom as his mate, perhaps it was to experiment in cross species breeding. He did stay and help raise us, training us in styles of combat suited for our builds. Except one of us, he disappeared.." He remembered her question about his wings, shaking his head. "Nope, earthbound myself. They can't support my weight." He might have appeared relaxed, draped over the stone as he had been, yet pulling himself up and out of the blades path in one fluid motion. When she landed on his back, he gave a sigh, turning his head to her slightly. "I did say I guess I could trust you a bit, not that I did." He gave a amused churr, eyeing the blade below him and using a paw to slip it from the stone before laying it down and crossing his paws over it carefully.

Megan laughed quietly before saying, "Hmm...I don't seem to find you odd, why would you think I'd find those who walk like me odd? Although I do suppose there are others that would consider some people odd, so I see where you're coming from. And you are definitely not your normal dragon...still, I don't think you're odd...just different. If you know what I mean..." After landing on his back she commented, "Hmm...that's a bit upsetting that you can't fly...but you don't seem too phased by it, so that's good." When he concealed her weapon, she gave a short laugh again and said, "Hmm...seems a bit unfair that I trusted you with my weapon and you took it, do you want to gain trust or no?"

He shrugged. "There are some bipeds who are a bit different in appearance then others, like lizardmen and cat people. I find them interesting myself and hope to meet a few myself one day." He dismissed her repeats about oddness after that, tilting his head as she seemed unconcerned about a sibling that disappeared, though shrugged off as perhaps normal thing for bipeds. "Wings that are never meant to fly are easy to get use to. I still get jealous of those who can fly, I make up for my shortcomings in other ways." He shifted enough that she could see the weapon was safe, but concealed it again. "You've thrown it at me a few times now, I'm not keeping it, just preventing more throwing." He gave a purr, his posture indicating he was avoiding laying on the blade, indeed being careful of it.

Megan nodded before saying, "Well yes...there are different bipeds, but II wouldn't say that they're odd. At least, I don't consider them odd, whereas for you, I haven't ever seen a dragon that was...hrm...more like a line than a rock so to speak." She reclined on his back, glad he did not seem to upset about her doing so, and let her arms hang down, "This is okay?" She asked to confirm so. "And perhaps I could give you a sensation of flight if we worked together, you wouldn't actually be flying, but you wouldn't be groundbound, might feel nice. Oh and..." She peer over at the weapon and nods, "It is fine...your reaction was normal for someone who has had a weapon nearly spear them twice. I promise not to throw it again if I had it, but I'm fine with you keeping it like so if that makes you comfortable."

He shifted himself into a gentler angle when she reclined on him, turning his head to nose her hand a bit. "I don't mind, but next time you shoukd ask." He listened, seeming interested in her offer. "How would you do that? Magic?" He gave a churr, the sound seeming to come from his entire body. He did noticeably keep her blade where he held it. Megan smiled at him as he nosed her and churred, due to the fact she could feel the noise through his body she noticed he was very relaxed, "Hmm...yes well. You're nicer than how I've heard most dragons are you know...and sorry. I tend to just do what I want, but if you did mind I would definitely get off for you." She rubbed the tip of his snout as he nosed her and then scratched under his jaw. At his comment she nodded and said, "Can try to levitate you, but not now, I'd have to work at that a bit. Trying it on you now would just utterly exhaust me." Megan chuckled at his comment about the blade and said, "This volcano is getting slightly dull, would you like to go somewhere else?"
